Walking dead finale

Time: 9:00pm

Type of Media: TV

Genre: Action

Title: walking dead

Duration: 60 minutes

I watched this show today on my own at my flat. I posted a status on fb to let everyone know my excitement for the finale since the set up was very good.

The first thing I’ll say is that the show had a very big build for this finale and I was under the impression they weren’t going to make another series but given the cliff hanger at the end I believe their will be at least one more.

The most engaging character was Rick and Daryl since they were both given the most intense scenes, Rick was in trouble from the last episode him having a dispute with one of the characters that caused problems this episode.

Daryl was shown a character from the first season as a reunion and the way he was introduced was both intense and engaging, the action was amazing and believable as well as the drama creating a uncomfortable tension.

This episode I will give a solid 9\10 the reason it isn’t a 10 is because I feel they could of added more since it was the finale they could of concluded more things.

Battlefield Hardline Chapter 1

Time: 12:00am

Type of Media: Video-game

Genre: Action

Title: Battlefield Hardline

Duration: NA

I bought this game today due to watching various trailers and reading several reviews as well as watching a game play of chapter one, the game itself seems to be a spin on cops and robbers but making it more enjoyable through being able to play as what I assume is both sides of the fight.

I have so far very much enjoyed the cops gameplay since you get to do things such as make people free then arrest them which is very satisfying, i’m also enjoying the action sequences since it’s very fast paced and intense as well as making you think on your feet.

Their are various weapons and gadgets to be collected from the game as well as unlocking them through going up a system called Expert level and collecting things such as evidence and a trace.

The characters are very engaging even though I have only played the game for about an hour so far but I already felt bad when one of them got shot and I like the way the bad characters are portrayed.

Jupiter Ascending

Time: 7:45:00pm

Type of Media: Film

Genre: Action

Title: Jupiter Ascending

Duration: 127 minutes

I watched this film today 25/03/15 at the Odeon in Trafford with my Dad, no other media was involved due to it being in the cinema. This film was a very action packed Science Fiction film with actors such as Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum.

This film has everything a sci-fi film should expect such as awesome gadgets, space, and aliens. The gadgets were executed excellently I left the cinema wanting hover boots. The space scenes consisted of a lot of space ship battles with high flying fast paced combat.

The plot was predictable and I spent the entire film knowing what was going to happen and how it was going to end all things aside it was still an entertaining plot consisting of corrupt families, space police and royalty.

Overall I would give the film a 6/10 due to the dry plot, the reason it has such a high rating is because the effects were phenomenal the acting was genuine and the film itself was entertaining.

Hummingbird

Time: 9:00pm

Type of Media: Film

Genre: Action

Title: Hummingbird

Duration: 100 minutes

I watched this film today with my friend Ben at my flat. We were socialising throughout the film as well as using our phones to text other people.

This film is a very typical Jason Statham film with choreographed fight sequences and a gritty plot.

You are introduced to the main character by watching him see his squad in afghan get mowed down by terrorists, you are then showed him as a homeless guy which makes you assume he is an army veteran that struggled to return to a normal life from war.

He very quickly breaks into a guys house and discovers that the man will be absent from it for a few months so exploits this by getting; nice clothes taking his money and his car.

This is when the action starts to kick off and you watch him go from a drunk to a sharp romantic man, he falls in love with a nun as well as getting back into fighting shape.

He is discovered by an Asian man as a debt collector/thug and we watch him earning a lot of money as well as working towards winning the girl.

The film gets dark at parts with scenes such as him using a light as a gun because he is hallucinating things that aren’t there as well as prostitution death and at one point a screaming traumatised child that I assume is around the age of 9.

Either way I got what I expected from Statham which is fast cars, hand to hand fight scenes and him getting the girl, this has been a succession to his films such as wild card and The Transporter, this theme is working well for Statham since when I saw Kingsman in cinema he was a main part in every trailer that came on.

Overall the film in my eyes deserves a 6.5 out of 10 since I felt it was the same thing that I expected to see and at points the writing could have been better. I would recommend it to anybody that enjoys blockbuster action films.

Kingsman 16/3/15

Time: 7:57

Type of Media: Film

Genre: Action

Title: Kingsman

Duration: 129 minutes

Today for uni I went to watch the new film Kingsman with my class, due to being in the cinema no other media was involved. The film was released 13th February 2015, it stars actors such as Colin Firth, Mark Strong and Samuel L Jackson, all of which are actors that have been in many Hollywood blockbusters.

The actors portrayed a very believable performance both for the comedic sequences as well as the action packed fight scenes, which were choreographed amazingly, my favorite was the Church fight scene because it contained good hand to hand combat as well as both fire arm and ballistic weapons. The camera angles of the fight were done very well, they were very fast for example if he hit someone to the ground the camera would follow them and then quickly point back at the person that threw the punch in time for him to hit someone else.

The music was very awesome featuring classic songs such as the guitar solo used in freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd which is an iconic rock guitar solo due to the duration being about 5 minutes long.

Samuel L Jackson was a very lovable villain due to him only having one villain like trait which was his motive, he has a fear of blood and after shooting the character Galahad (collin firth) he coiled backwards, then his sidekick said “feels great doesn’t it” and his reply being “hell no, that was terrible” making us actually like the villain.

The main character had a very obvious transformation from being a trouble making teen being raised in a rough part of London to a gentlemen spy which was very expected since the beginning.

Overall I loved the film and am excited to see it released later this year on blu ray, it has a good sense of humour and it blends with the action perfectly. Overall I’d give it a solid 9/10 and recommend it to most audiences.

Fast and Furious 6 19.03.15

Time: 7:57

Type of Media: Film

Genre: Action

Title: Fast and Furious 6

Duration: 130 minutes

Context: I watched this film alone, I was in my halls, I watched it on dual screens so I had Facebook open on the other screen, before I watched this film I watched the trailer on YouTube and in my opinion the trailer was very good at promoting it since it was action packed, intense and did a good job promoting the cast of which had actors like Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel who will have a fan base that want to watch the film just for them. I commented on the video in the form of a YouTube comment with this comment.

uni fast and furios

The film itself had a engaging narrative as well as great action sequences, Fast and Furious in my opinion lead the market with their street racing sequences, this one taking you through London being chased by the Police, it also bought back a previously loved character that was “killed” in a previous film.

Papa Roach live Manchester 15,03,15

Time: 8:00pm

Type of Media: Live show

Genre: Rock

Title: Papa Roach FEAR tour

Duration: 3 hours

Watched Papa Roach live today with my friends (3) at the Manchester academy. I have known of them for a long time since in my teen years I used to listen to songs such as “Last Resort” and “scars” and It’s not often I see a band that sounds as good live as they do on record but from the start I was gripped.

The vocalist was a very good frontman, even though he was dancing a lot he still had enough breath to hit all the notes that he was required too, on top of that he still managed to engage the audience and do things like open up a mosh pit which although it’s not for everyone those that wanted it still had it.

The guitarist Jerry Horton was very talented, he danced around a lot and as a guitarist myself I can say playing live the mixture of dancing and hitting all the notes is very difficult, he executed it perfectly.

The opening acts Cold Rain and The One Hundred were both bands that were quite impressive, cold rain is quite well known with 62,000 likes were a lot more experienced playing live due to their high popularity as opposed to The One Hundred who only have 8,000 likes they were clearly not as good.

The drummer of Papa Roach was very engaging, drumming when not necessary for example when the lead vocalist was talking just to add emphasis and occasionally having a drum solo just to build tension, he was also the first on stage so he could warm up the crowd for the band.
